Realizing he had spoken in error the day before, Rex Ryan joked that he probably should attend more offensive meetings.

After telling reporters Tim Tebow wouldn’t get any reps with the first-team offense this week, the Jets backup quarterback was spotted with the starters on two snaps in the red zone.

“It’s funny,” Ryan began. “It caught me by surprise. It also caught (defensive coordinator Mike) Pettine by surprise because the first call was two-man and I’m like, ‘You’re never going to call two-man against Tim Tebow because he’s going to turn and run with it.

"Your whole DBs – the whole secondary’s backs are turned to him, so that’s something you would never do.”

Sparano later approached the head coach and asked: “Rex, you’d really call that against Tim?”

“No! There’s no chance we’d call that against Tim,” Ryan responded.

The coach also was asked again if Tebow will get first-team reps in training camp. “We’ll see,” said Ryan.
