Pats TE Rob Gronkowski active vs. Jets
As expected, Rob Gronkowski is active for Sunday’s Jets-Patriots rematch.
Despite a little gamesmanship from coach Bill Belichick -- who listed Gronkowski as questionable on Friday’s injury report – it was assumed the Pat tight end would make his season debut against the Jets.
Gronkowski's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, announced Friday morning that his client had been medically-cleared to play Sunday. But Rex Ryan said he figured his defense would have to contend with Gronk.
“Like we said from Day One, I assumed he'd play,” the Jets coach said, referring to the tight end, who’s undergone multiple surgeries on his forearm and back. “I’m assuming Brady will play. But that's how much we assumed this guy was going to play. I don't know if they were saving him for us or whatever, but I had a funny feeling he was going to play. After that first game, I felt for sure he'd play against us the second game.”
As expected, slot receiver Danny Amendola and cornerback Aqib Talib are inactive. So are ex-Jet Leon Washington, Josh Boyce, Chris Barker, Tommy Kelly and Tavon Wilson.
For the Jets, Santonio Holmes, Brady Quinn, Greg Salas, Troy Davis, Will Campbell, Ben Ijalana and Oday Aboushi are inactive.
