Scott inactive vs. Dolphins; 119 consecutive-games streak snapped
As expected, Bart Scott is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins at MetLife Stadium.
That means, the veteran linebacker's impressive 119 consecutive regular-season games streak will come to an end. Scott's streak was the fifth-longest among active NFL linebackers and eighth-longest among active defensive players, according to the Jets.
In the locker room this week, the Jets linebacker seemed resigned to the fact that he would miss his first regular-season game in eigth years because of a lingering toe injury. Scott said he hurt his big toe on the second play of the Jets' Week 3 overtime win over the Dolphins Sept. 23. As a result, his play -- and playing time -- have been affected.
Rookie draft pick Demario Davis will start in place of the injured Scott. Davis also started last week's overtime loss to the Patriots as an outside linebacker in their nickel defense.
The Jets also will be without RB Bilal Powell (separated shoulder), but special teams Mike Westhoff will once again have KR/RB Joe McKnight at his disposal. Despite a high ankle sprain, McKnight has played the past two weeks -- and been effective. It'll be interesting to see how he fares today against the Dolphins.
Here are the full inactive lists:
QB Greg McElroy (healthy scratch), RB Bilal Powell (shoulder), S Eric Smith (knee), LB Bart Scott (toe), NT Damon Harrison (healthy scratch), TE Jeff Cumberland (wrist), NT Kenrick Ellis (knee).
QB Pat Devlin, CB Richard Marshall, LB Josh Kaddu, T Will Yeatman, TE Michael Egnew and WRs Rishard Matthews and Anthony Armstrong.
