RB Greene joins Titans
It was a foregone conclusion Shonn Greene wouldn't be returning to the Jets next season -- and now, it's official.
The Tennessee Titans confirmed via their official Twitter account that they have agreed to terms on a "multi-year contract" with the former Jets running back. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news, claiming Greene had reached an agreement on a three-year, $10 million deal.
The Titans, who met with Greene today, apparently weren't ready to let him walk out of the building without a deal.
Bilal Powell will be expected to shoulder a bigger load this season to make up for the production of Greene, who rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the past two seasons. The Jets also have Joe McKnight (though he wasn't used as a running back often in Tony Sparano's offense) and John Griffin.
The Jets, of course, could choose to bolster their backfield through the April draft.
Greene, who was drafted in the third round back in 2009, rushed for 3,423 yards -- good for 10th on the franchise's all-time rushing list -- on 822 carries and 18 touchdowns during his Jets tenure.
He now will be a complement stud running back Chris Johnson.
