The Jets and their third-round pick Brian Winters have agreed to terms on a four-year deal, a source told Newsday Thursday.

The former Kent State offensive lineman was selected 72nd overall in last month’s draft.

There was uncertainty heading into the offseason due to the imminent departures of guards Brandon Moore and Matt Slauson, but with the selection of Winters, William Campbell and the free-agent signings of Willie Colon and Stephen Peterman, O-line depth is now a strength for the Jets.

“I couldn't ask for a better situation,” Winters, who played left tackle in college, said after he was drafted. “I'm really excited for what's to come and to go out there with a great team, I couldn’t be more excited.”

The challenge will be building continuity quickly, said Nick Mangold.

“The biggest thing is going to be communication, getting a feel,” the Jets center said last week. “I played next to Brandon Moore for seven years, so you kind of get a comfortability with a guy. So you have to build that. It takes time. You don’t just come out of the gate with that, so that’s going to be a big emphasis this spring – a long with learning the playbook.”
