Defensive end Quinton Coples, the Jets' first-round draft pick, said he is getting increasingly comfortable as training camp progresses but is "still learning. We have install each and every day."

One of the biggest challenges has been that he is being used in several ways, including as a linebacker in some situations.

"It's been challenging," he said, especially given the coverage responsibilities that come with that position.

One help to Coples has been the presence of second-year defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson, a former teammate of Coples' at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia.

"To have him here now is great," said Muhammad, who had three sacks last season and has slimmed down from 315 pounds to 305 in an effort to increase his speed.

"Me and him are both young, so I look forward to playing next to him for many years to come."

Even though the Jets still are in the early phase of training camp, nose tackle Sione Pouha  has seen growth and a lot of upside from Coples. Namely, athletic ability, he said.

"I think he’s just using it as building blocks," Pouha added. "He came in, did the rookie camp, used it as a foundation and built upon them with OTAs and minicamp. And he’s continuing to build who he is as a player.”

Rex Ryan mentioned during his presser that Coples felt some tightness during practice, but it wasn't serious. "He was, but he was out there," the head coach said. "He never missed any reps or anything, but I saw that as well."
