Since joining Newsday in November 2007, Kimberley A. Martin has covered everything from local news to high school sports to the Super Bowl. In 2011, she was named the National Association of Black Journalists' "Emerging Journalist of the Year" for her outstanding achievement and balanced coverage of the black community and society at large. After spending two years as a general assignment sports reporter, Kimberley was promoted to the New York Jets beat in April 2012.

Before coming to Newsday, she worked as a local sports reporter for The Record in Hackensack, N.J.

Kimberley received her B.A. in Psychology and African American Studies from Wesleyan University in 2003 and her M.A. in Newspaper, Magazine & Online Journalism from Syracuse University in 2006. Prior to grad school, she worked at an investment firm in Midtown Manhattan.

Dolphins hire ex-Jets GM Tannenbaum as a consultant

The Dolphins have hired former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum as a consultant.

Tannenbaum will consult with the Dolphins “on a variety of projects involving innovation, analytics and sports science,” according to a press release issued Friday by the team.

He was fired by owner Woody Johnson in January 2013 after the team finished 6-10. He served as Jets GM for seven years.

Say goodbye to “Big Wood."

Former Jets offensive lineman and fan favorite Damien Woody will be one of 20 contestants on the next installment of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.”

"When I told my wife and kids, 'Hey, 'Biggest Loser' wants me to come on,' my kids were like, 'Dad are you serious? You totally got to do this,'" Woody, 36, told PEOPLE.com.

Free-agent receiver and former Jet Santonio Holmes worked out for the Chicago Bears Tuesday, head coach Marc Trestman confirmed. But the former Super Bowl MVP left without a deal in place.

The Bears brought in Holmes and Ben Obomanu (who also played for the Jets briefly last season) before signing Greg Herd to a one-year deal.

Shaq Evans’ rookie season could already be over.

Ryan said the wide receiver’s shoulder injury is “severe” and could land him on injured reserve. Evans, a fourth-round pick, wore a red non-contact jersey in practice but was “very limited.”

Clemson wide receiver Seth Ryan – the son of Jets coach Rex Ryan – broke his collarbone during Monday's football practice, according to the Associated Press.

The university made the announcement.

Ryan, a redshirt freshman after sitting out last season, was injured when he tried to make a diving catch in the end zone.

Linebacker Jermaine Cunningham tore his Achilles tendon in the Jets' Green and White scrimmage, a source confirmed Sunday.

Cunningham, 26, was tended to on the field by trainers after suffering the first-half injury and was later helped off the field. He did not return, and Rex Ryan had little info at the time about the extent of Cunningham's injury.
