Finish the season.
That was LaRon Landry's only goal for 2012.
But the Jets safety did more than just that. He capped his first season with the Jets with his first-ever Pro Bowl nod.
“It’s a great accomplishment, for the cards I’ve been dealt, for all I’ve been through,” said Landry, who has 95 tackles, four forced fumbles and two interceptions – including one returned for a touchdown....Read more »
Just yesterday, Mark Sanchez was preparing for his second straight game as the clipboard manager.
But now, thanks to a stunning turn of events, the Jets former starter will get another shot at being No. 1 again.
“I guess you didn’t expect it that quickly,” Sanchez said Wednesday, hours after Rex Ryan announced that his intended starter, Greg McElroy, is now sidelined with a concussion,...Read more »
Rex Ryan again had a chance to end the speculation. And again, he chose not to.
A day after Tim Tebow blasted reports of him asking to sit out of the Wildcat last week, the Jets coach didn’t confirm the allegations or defend the character of his backup quarterback.
“Again, I’ll stand by exactly what I said," Ryan reiterated on Wednesday. "I believe if Tim would have been asked...Read more »

Wilkerson, who had five tackles and one sack in last week’s loss to the Chargers, did not practice on Wednesday and is not expected to practice today. Cornerback Ellis Lankster also suffered a concussion in...Read more »

The Jets announced cornerback Antonio Cromartie and safety LaRon Landry have been selected as reserves and left guard D'Brickashaw Ferguson (2nd), center Nick Mangold (3rd) and KR/RB Joe McKnight (3rd) have been named as alternates.
"It's good man," Cromartie said on a conference call Wednesday evening. "It's a great individual accomplishment. But for...Read more »
Tim Tebow is well aware of the criticisms of his quarterback skills – or, as some might say, lack thereof.
But the Jets backup quarterback said he was particularly disheartened by reports claiming he asked out of the Wildcat last week because of his frustrations over not getting the starting gig against the Chargers.
Tebow admitted he was disappointed when told third-stringer Greg McElroy...Read more »
Greg McElroy also is a new addition to the injury.
Rex Ryan said the former third-string quarterback, who supplanted Mark Sanchez for the starting gig, suffered an abdomen injury during last week’s loss.
The Jets coach couldn’t pinpoint when it happened, though he added: “But if you get sacked 11 times...”
Ryan didn’t seem too concerned about McElroy’s injury, or his status for...Read more »

A team spokesman later told reporters Wilkerson suffered the concussion late in the San Diego game. The defensive lineman didn't show any concussion symptoms until after the game. He is going through a battery of tests now. During practice, he was spotted, on the far field, jogging alongside CB Ellis Lankster (concussion.)
At some point during Sunday’s loss to San...Read more »
To no surprise, Woody Johnson has already begun testing the GM market.
CBS Sports reported this week that the Jets have already begun to reach out to potential candidates, including Texans director of college scouting Mike Maccagnan.
Current general manager Mike Tannenbaum has taken considerable heat this season because of the team’s lack of offensive talent, depth – and now – 6-9 record.

The Jets waived Mardy Gilyard on Monday, officially ending his second short-lived stint with the team.
The 6-1, 187-pound wide receiver was claimed off waivers by the Jets on Sept. 4, 2011 but was waived six days later. After separate stints with the Eagles, he signed with the Jets on Nov. 28.
He appeared in two games with the Jets, catching two passes for 15 yards. ...Read more »
