Nothing but Jets
New York Jets news, commentary and insider info from beat writer Kimberley A. Martin.
There’s a good chance Bill Belichick got his hands on the Jets’ defensive secrets, according to new Browns head coach Mike Pettine.
Pettine, the Jets defensive coordinator from 2009-2012, hinted in an interview with Sports Illustrated’s MMQB that the Patriots head coach likely obtained the Jets’ playbook from Alabama coach Nick Saban.
Pettine said during Wes Welker’s 2012...Read more »
It didn’t take long for Calvin Pryor to be indoctrinated into the Jets-Pats rivalry.
The rookie safety has been a New York Jet for only a month, but he’s already up to speed on how much the organization loathes New England -- and the team's star quarterback Tom Brady.
“We don't like Tom at all,” Pryor, the Jets' first-round pick, said in a “Daily News Live” interview that...Read more »
The New England Patriots announced Wednesday that they have hired former Jets assistant Dave DeGuglielmo as their new offensive line coach.

So did the Jets tip off the officials about the Patriots special-teams play?
Ben Kotwica isn’t saying.
“We have correspondence with the officials and the league office during the course of the week,” the Jets coordinator said. “…Those discussions are private and I’m going to honor that and keep it that way.”
The war of words between the AFC East rivals reached a climax Wednesday,...Read more »
Rex Ryan isn’t trying to hear anything Bill Belichick has to say.
When told the New England coach called out the Jets for committing the same “push” penalty that led to a Patriots penalty and an overtime win for the Jets Sunday, Ryan delivered a not-so-subtle jab at his AFC East rival.
“That’s not true,” Ryan said firmly. “He’s got to make up his mind. Was he aware of this thing? Was...Read more »
The Jets announced Wednesday morning that they had signed former Patriots cornerback Ras-I Dowling to the practice squad.
The former second-round pick of the Patriots in 2011 ended the past two seasons on injured reserve due to injury.

For the second time in two weeks, Geno Smith is a Pepsi Next Rookie of the Week nominee.
The Jets quarterback – who received the honor after leading the Jets to a Week 5 win in Atlanta – again is in the running following his performance against the Patriots. Smith threw for 233 passing yards, rushed for 32 and had two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) in the Jets' 30-27 overtime victory...Read more »
In the aftermath of the Jets’ electrifying win over the hated Patriots, the questions mostly centered on the controversial call that changed the complexion of the game: the unexpected FG “pushing” penalty on Pats defensive lineman Chris Jones that gave Nick Folk another chance to be the hero in a 30-27 victory in overtime.
Everyone wanted to know whether Rex Ryan knew about the Patriots’...Read more »
Tom Brady entered Week 7 with a lower completion percentage than Geno Smith. And by the end of overtime Sunday afternoon, the future Hall of Famer had been outplayed by his rookie counterpart.
“Losing sucks, and especially to the Jets,” the Patriots quarterback said during his weekly Monday morning radio appearance on Boston’s WEEI.
Brady finished 22 of 46 for 228 yards, but he was sacked...Read more »
Jets right guard Willie Colon said he overheard the referees say Sunday that they had warned the Patriots on a previous field-goal attempt about pushing. But the game -- a stunning 30-27 Jets' win -- wasn’t the first time New England's employed the tactic.
During the Patriots' dramatic come-from-behind win over the Saints last week, defensive tackle Chris Jones pushed teammate Will Svitek...Read more »
