Dee Milliner said he was taken out of practice Wednesday for precautionary reasons after tweaking his left hamstring. But the rookie cornerback isn’t yet sure whether he’ll play Sunday in Tennessee.

“Running on a route, I felt it give a little bit,” Milliner told reporters after practice Thursday. “So the trainers came and checked me out and felt it best to put me out of practice.”

However, the former Alabama star – who was limited on Wednesday – wasn’t able to practice on Thursday. And that’s not a good sign with just three days until they play the Titans.

Rex Ryan said the injury occurred just as the young cornerback was starting to take off. But despite Milliner’s benching against the Patriots and Kyle Wilson’s start Sunday vs. the Bills, Ryan said he’s not disappointed in Milliner, their ninth overall pick.

“In fact, it’s the exact opposite,” the Jets coach said.

As of now, the Jets aren’t saying whether Milliner’s hamstring injury will affect his status for Sunday. The rookie said he feels as if he’ll be able to play, but he deferred to the team’s medical and coaching staffs.

"Yeah (I feel like I could play), that's why I've been in the training room, just trying to get back and do my part," said Milliner.

Asked how the Jets plan to make do if the rookie's not in the lineup, defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman said he learned long ago not to get overly “emotional” about injuries.

“Injuries happen,” he said. “...Until he gets healthy, there's really nothing to talk about.”
