Rex: We'll consider Coleman
A source told Newsday earlier this week that the Jets, Lions and Titans have all expressed interest in Drew Coleman, the former Jets cornerback who was released by Jacksonville earlier this week.
Head coach Rex Ryan confirmed as much on Saturday, adding that he was pleased by Coleman's production during his five years with the Jets.
"Well, sure. Like I say, we consider anybody out there," he said. "I know (general manager) Mike (Tannenbaum) has his list and things like that. When, what price, all that kind of stuff, you know. We'll see. But certainly Drew knows our system. He had an outstanding year for us."
The cornerback recorded 84 tackles, 18 passes defensed, six sacks and two interceptions with the Jets, before signing a three-year deal with Jacksonville in the summer of 2011.
"He doesn't just sack a guy, he was forcing fumbles," Ryans said. "And he really knows our system, our coverage, our teammates, knows what we expect.
"Certainly I'm sure he'll be a consideration. But we want to see what we have here with the guys we have already on our current roster.
