Ty Law: Revis could cover Jets WRs with bad knee
Tell us how you really feel, Ty.
During a sit-down interview posted on SI.com, Patriots Super Bowl champ Ty Law discussed his longtime friendship with fellow Aliquippa (Pa.) native Darrelle Revis. During the three-minute segment, Law -- who played almost a decade in New England before one-year stints with the Jets in 2005 and '08 -- disclosed Revis was at his house during his well-publicized holdout with the Jets in 2010.
But while the former NFL cornerback assured football fans that Revis would return to form following ACL surgery, Law also delivered several shots at Revis' old team.
"I don't think the Jets receivers are worthy of Revis coming out in this game. I'm just being honest," Law said with a laugh. "He could've had the bad knee and covered these guys."
Law went on to say the Jets are the type of team that "might try to get him hurt," adding: "I wouldn't play him cause they're not worthy."
During a conference call with New York media, Revis downplayed the importance of facing his former club. "I’m approaching it like a regular season game," he said. "I think I can speak for the whole team, the first game is probably the biggest game of the year because you want to start out fast as a team. We just want to come out there to New York and get a win and be 1-0."
But the competitor in Revis must be itching to prove he's the shutdown corner he once was.
Law, who played with Revis in 2008, insisted "Darrelle's not going to lose his step. Let me put that out there."
Law also said in the video clip: "You're going to get the best out of him if he respects the other guy. I don't think he respects anybody on Jets."
