FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- With a date against Michael Vick looming on Sunday, the Jets may be welcoming back Mike DeVito at the perfect time.

The veteran defensive end practiced Wednesday for the first time in nearly two weeks. Even though DeVito, who injured his left knee in the Jets' win over Buffalo on Nov. 27, was limited, Rex Ryan expects to have him back.

"Yes, I do," Ryan said. "Mike looks pretty good out there. If he has a setback, we'll see. But he looked good, did some nine-on-seven drills today, taking on double-teams and all that and he looked good. So as long as he doesn't have a setback, he should be ready to go."

Rex jabs Giants

Ryan couldn't help but take a poke at the Giants when asked if the Jets were not going to punt to DeSean Jackson. Of course, Jackson had the 65-yard punt return for a touchdown the final play of the Giants' 38-31 loss in Week 15 last season.

"There are people around here that might be able to better answer that question than us," Ryan said. "Let's face it: If he doesn't make that return, Green Bay doesn't even go to the playoffs last year."

Moore feeling better

As expected, guard Brandon Moore sat out practice to rest his ailing hip. The plan is for Moore, who didn't practice all last week but played on Sunday, to rest on Wednesdays, try to do some work Thursdays before getting more in on Fridays.

"I'm all for it if it's going to make me feel better during the course of the week and even better on Sundays," Moore said "I feel better than most Wednesdays and then I'm doing a lot more work . . . than if I was practicing.".

Extra points

Joe McKnight (hyperextended elbow) is expected to play on Sunday and will wear a brace. . . Ryan said surgery on S Jim Leonhard's right patellar tendon went well.
