FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Rex Ryan doesn't believe his affinity for defense has hindered his judgment on the other side of the ball even though the Jets' offense is ranked 30th in the NFL.
"I've had to defend the best offenses in this league for years and years, so I know what it looks like," Ryan said Thursday. "I realize every team is not going to have [New England quarterback] Tom Brady. I'll be honest with you, if we had Tom Brady, I'd be happy with that."

Despite the uncertain futures of quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow, Ryan maintained he knows "what an NFL player looks like. We have a lot of them here. I certainly have a voice on every decision that goes into this team. I've been around the game all of my life. I do know what it looks like."
As for his reported interest in Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick, Ryan laughed and said, "I think I'll focus on the players we have on this roster instead of somebody else's."
Moore: Payton nominee
Right guard Brandon Moore has been named the Jets' 2012 Walter Payton Man of the Year. The award is given annually to an NFL player who demonstrates a commitment to community service as well as overall excellence on the field.
Tight end Dustin Keller was the team's choice in 2011. Each NFL team identifies a local Man of the Year and three finalists are selected from the group of 32.
Keller (ankle) did not practice Thursday and will miss his third straight game Sunday.
