Stephen Hill joins list of injured Jets wide receivers
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Stephen Hill sat out the final team drill Tuesday with his right ring finger heavily taped.
The rookie wideout said the injury occurred during the first set of 11-on-11 drills, when he got tangled up with Darrelle Revis. At the time, Hill couldn't tell whether the finger -- which, he said, couldn't bend -- was dislocated or worse, broken.
But according to a team spokesperson later in the day, X-rays were negative.
The Jets haven't had a full and healthy receiving corps since the first day of camp. And with Santonio Holmes (rib) out for Saturday's game against the Giants and Jeremy Kerley (hamstring) and Chaz Schilens (ankle) still recovering, Hill said he'll "definitely" push through the injury.
"One injury's not just going to stop me," he said. "I'm just going to see what the training staff says first and go from there."
Coach Rex Ryan said he didn't know the extent of Hill's injury, but he doesn't think it's too serious.
Tebow GQ cover boy
Birthday boy Tim Tebow graces the cover of the September issue of GQ. But the photos of the Jets' backup QB, who turned 25 Tuesday, are from his college days in Florida, a team spokesperson clarified. Tebow declined recent GQ interview and photo shoot requests.
Antonio Cromartie caught a 15-yard scoring pass from McElroy during team drills. Ryan left open the possibility of Cromartie being used as a receiver vs. the Giants . . . Speaking of the Giants, Ryan said he wouldn't mind trading last year's Snoopy Bowl trophy for the Giants' Lombardi Trophy. As for the game, Ryan said it feels more "special" than a preseason game because "there seems to be a lot more fight when the Jets and Giants play against each other."NT Sione Po'uha (forehead/back) went to New York for treatment on his back.
