FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve Wednesday, is scheduled to undergo surgery next week. But first, he'll be evaluated independently at the Hospital for Special Surgery Thursday, according to his agent, Alan Herman.

Prior to Hill spraining the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee in the Jets' win over Jacksonville on Dec. 9, he suffered cartilage damage in his left knee against Arizona the previous week. The rookie was prepared to play through the cartilage injury, but now the expectation is he'll have both knees checked out next week -- pending the independent evaluation.

Hill finishes the season with 21 catches for 252 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games. In a corresponding roster move, the Jets brought up cornerback Donnie Fletcher from the practice squad to the active roster.
