Stevan Ridley's tour of the AFC East continues.

The free-agent running back was scheduled to meet with the Jets starting Wednesday, sources confirmed to Newsday. Ridley, who also visited the Dolphins this week, is expected to stay in the Florham Park area until Thursday.

The Jets have their No. 1 running back from last season, Chris Ivory, and the versatile Bilal Powell, but they still need a back with speed.

Ridley, 26, played six games last fall for the Patriots before tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee. He had 340 yards and two touchdowns on 94 carries. Although he's known as a strong runner between the tackles, he's had trouble with fumbles -- nine in four seasons.

Source: Cooper coming to visit

The Jets also plan to spend time Thursday with potential draft pick Amari Cooper. According to a source, the Alabama wide receiver will visit the facility, along with Stanford tackle Andrus Peat. Cooper could be in play for the Jets, who have the sixth overall pick in this month's draft. The SEC Offensive Player of the Year led the nation in receptions (124) and was second in yards (1,727) and touchdown receptions (16).

Gilchrist: I can do anything

Marcus Gilchrist isn't short on confidence. The Jets' new safety isn't sure how he'll be used but is prepared for anything.

"I pride myself on being able to do anything at the safety position, whether that's cover, play deep middle, come down in the box and make tackles,'' he said. "I pride myself on being able to do all those things.''

The former Charger played cornerback in his first two seasons (2011-12) before switching to safety the past two years.

Saints sign Wilson

Cornerback Kyle Wilson signed with New Orleans, where he'll play for Rex Ryan's twin, Rob, the Saints' defensive coordinator. Wilson was a huge disappointment during five seasons as a Jet, totaling 162 tackles and three interceptions. Quarterbacks also had a 107.4 passer rating last season throwing at him in the slot, according to Pro Football Focus . . . The Jets signed former Packers LB Jamari Lattimore and re-signed T Ben Ijalana.
