Well, that didn't take long.

Even before the signing period for unrestricted free agency began at 12:01 a.m., things started coming into focus around the league.

First, the Panthers made it known they'd be parting ways with veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme and going with the relatively untested restricted free agent Matt Moore.

Then the Jets pulled off a trade with the Chargers for cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

And once the signing period began, things came into focus very quickly.

Julius Peppers (pictured) had decided on a visit with the Bears later today, with a strong likelihood that Chicago would be his next destination. The pass rusher is the most coveted free agent on the open market.

Cardinals free agent linebacker Karlos Dansby will meet with the Dolphins, and he's expected to be their big-ticket free agent acquisition.

And Antrel Rolle, the cornerback-turned-safety who had been released by the Cardinals, decided that the Giants would be his first visit later today. Don't expect to see him leave the building without first signing a contract to become the team's starting safety.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz pulled a page out of the Rex Ryan free agency recruiting book by showing up at Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch's house. Ryan did the same thing last year, showing up at Ravens linebacker Bart Scott's house to recruit him for free agency. Scott soon signed a deal with the Jets.

Lots more action later today. Stick around.
