Bob Glauber's NFL free agency winners and losers

WINNER: DENVER BRONCOS Remember when John Elway kept

Remember when John Elway kept getting to and then losing Super Bowls, and how the arrival of running back Terrell Davis in 1995 got the team over the hump? Elway’s acquisition of three key defensive players might just do the same for Peyton Manning. The Broncos’ clear weakness last season was on defense, and Elway reacted quickly in free agency, first signing safety T.J. Ward, then out-bidding New England for CB Aqib Talib (pictured) and finally closing the deal for former Cowboys pass rusher DeMarcus Ware. Those three players signal immediate and important upgrades at key positions, and with Manning’s window of opportunity open for only another season or two, it was imperative that Elway got it right. He did. Excellent moves. (Credit: Getty Images / Jim Rogash)
