So now we know who'll replace Alex Smith as the backup to Colin Kaepernick. It's Colt McCoy, the former Browns starter who lost his job to first-round pick Brandon Weeden last season.

McCoy was dealt to the 49ers, as reported by Jason La Canfora of CBS.

It's a good gig for McCoy, who gets out of tough situation in Cleveland. Not only did he lose the starting gig to Weeden, but even Weeden might not make it to the start of the regular season as the No. 1 QB in Cleveland.

The 49ers, of course, were in the market for a backup to Kaepernick after dealing Smith, the former No. 1 overall pick, to the Chiefs last month.
