It was the most pointed question of the day.

“Is it true that both of you like Jim better than John?”

Jack and Jackie Harbaugh, Super Bowl parents for the next two weeks, and Joani Crean, the sister of the Harbaugh coaches, were stunned by the bluntness.

“We do not!” Jackie hollered during the conference call. Eventually, though, she realized that question-asker who was identified only as “John from Baltimore” was in fact her oldest son, John, the head coach of the Ravens, taking a few minutes away from Super Bowl prep to crash his parents’ interview with reporters from around the country.

“That was mean, John!” she scolded after realizing the ruse.

“Mom was ready to come right through this phone,” Jack said. “She grabbed my arm and she was reaching for the phone.”

The family shared a laugh and some warm hellos, a rarity during this busy time for John, and then after a few short moments he left to attend Ravens practice.

“We’ll talk to you later,” John said. “Love you both. Love you, Joani.”
