Matt Flynn to Oakland, Palmer to Arizona?
In a move that has been widely expected for several days, the Oakland Raiders have acquired Seahawks backup quarterback Matt Flynn in exchange for two draft picks, per Jay Glazer of FOXSports.
In a related move, the Raiders ready to move incumbent quarterback Carson Palmer to the Cardinals in exchange for draft-choice compensation, per Glazer. Palmer would then be expected to restructure his contract.
Flynn was penciled in as the starter when the Seahawks signed him to a three-year deal last year, but the unexpected emergence of rookie Russell Wilson, combined with Flynn's elbow problems in training camp, changed the equation dramatically. Wilson led the Seahawks to the playoffs and is now the unquestioned starter.
Flynn, meanwhile, gets another chance to take over as the No. 1 quarterback, this time with the Raiders. The former backup to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay faces a tough challenge in Oakland, where the Raiders have struggled for years to solidify their quarterback situation.
