Report: Raiders fire Hue Jackson

There's always one surprise firing every year in the NFL, and it looks like Hue Jackson is this year's shocker.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Jackson has been canned after just one season on the job, and just a few months after he pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Bengals to get quarterback Carson Palmer.

The Raiders have scheduled an afternoon news conference, at which they are expected to announce the change. The team has hired former Packers front-office executive Reggie McKenzie as their general manager, and McKenzie's first order of business was releasing Jackson.

Reached by CSNBayArea.com, Jackson said, "[McKenzie] is going to gut this place. He wants to bring in his own guys. No job is safe right now."
