Well, well, well ...

After weeks of drawing no interest following his release by the Jets in April, Tim Tebow has signed with the Patriots, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.

Now that adds yet another layer of drama to the Jets-Patriots rivalry, doesn't it? And if Patriots coach Bill Belichick can find a role for Tebow that suits him to the New England offense, then he'll be able to get in yet another dig at the Jets, who failed miserably at their attempt to get Tebow in the mix.

Tebow is thus reunited with Josh McDaniels, who drafted Tebow in the first round when McDaniels was head coach of the Broncos in 2010. Under new head coach John Fox, Tebow led Denver to the playoffs in 2011 after he replaced starter Kyle Orton, and he beat the Steelers in overtime in the first round of the playoffs that year.

Tebow's Broncos were then beaten the Patriots in the next round of the playoffs.
