Assistants Tour tees off, Met PGA champ Danny Balin wins

      So what do Met Section assistant pros do on their one day off every week—the one day in which they do not have to help run the pro shop, make sure the carts are working, sell merchandise and give lessons? They play against each other in tournaments.

 

      The Assistants Tour has resumed, with play at Quaker Ridge this past week. Danny Balin of Burning Tree in Connecticut, who last year won the Met PGA title after having taken a red eye flight home from California and an international team tournament, won with a 69, including a 33 on the back nine. He beat Joe Gothmann of Ardsley CC in Tarrytown by a shot.
