Jim Brown, a golf enthusiast who took up the game during his Hall of Fame career with the Cleveland Browns, will make an appearance at the Get Golf Ready event Saturday afternoon at Eisenhower Park. The program, from 3 to 6 p.m., will feature clinics for beginners. Visit getgolfreadynewyork.eventbrite.com for more info.

That will follow a series of free 10-minute lessons for anyone interested from local pros during a Play Golf America promotion at Eisenhower from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Brown, who will attend on behalf of the United Athletes Foundation, said at an outing last fall that he never played golf when he was a multi-sport star at Manhasset High School, but has played frequently on Long Island since then.
