Tiger Woods out of the U.S. Open

You have to wonder when we will see Tiger Woods again this season, if at all. He must really be hurting to have dropped out of the U.S. Open, which he announced today. The last time the Open went on without him was 1994, when he was 18 and had yet to win the U.S. Amateur (which got him into the 1995 Open at Shinnecock).

He said that it's time to listen to the doctors and let his knee and Achilles heal. But will the doctors let him play in the AT&T National in Philadelphia--the tournament that he hosts and that was temporarily moved from Congressional in Washington to accommodate the Open--or the British Open? Or will they tell him to take the rest of the year off or maybe have surgery?

Interesting topics. And as much as "experts" have been guessing as to what Woods will do, the fact is, no one knows.
