Mickelson defeats Saladino, 3 and 1

          "Dangerous conditions" were cited as the reason for stopping play in the U.S. Mid-Amateur at 12:06 p.m. But even if there hadn't been thunder at that point, they would have had to pull the golfers off the course by now. Zahringer's comeback ends on extra hole

      George Zahringer III of Manhattan and Deepdale Golf Club had the sort of comeback you almost never see in high level match play; 4 down after nine holes against John Engler of Augusta, Ga. in the first round of match play, Zahringer took the match to extra holes.
