East Setauket woman a finalist in Justin Timberlake golf contest

Sarah Guarascio of East Setauket is one of the 25 finalists in a national contest on Facebook to earn a trip to Justin Timberlake’s Tennessee golf resort.

Long Islanders (and anyone else) can vote for her at The contest ends on Thursday. She entered after seeing a notice for the contest in Newsday’s Around LI Golf column, a spokesman for Callaway said.

Johnnies go pro in other sports, too

Keegan Bradley is proving that when there is talk about a St. John’s player going pro, it doesn’t necessarily mean the NBA draft. Bradley, a recent star for the Red Storm golf team, last week tied for ninth at the Valero Texas Open. It was his second top-10 finish in his first few months on the PGA Tour.

Phil: Amy's doing well, so's he


       Phil Mickelson did not get into specifics about his wife Amy's condition as she continues to recover from breast cancer. He never does.        One of the caddies at Cherry Valley Club will give his name only as "G-Man." He says he got started by getting in trouble. He was a student at Hempstead High, jumped the fence and wound up at Hempstead Country Club. He was so intrigued, he was caddying a week later.

Local caddies sympathetic to Dustin


       Caddies who are playing in an outing being held in their honor today at Cherry Valley Club in Garden City acknowledge that Dustin Johnson must hold final responsibility for the episode in the bunker that led to a two-stroke penalty and cost him a chance to be in the PGA Championship playoff.
