Piping Rock's Quinlivan heads LIPGA qualifiers

      Sean Quinlivan, the Piping Rock pro, was the medalist at 4 under par and led a field of 31 qualifiers Monday for the match play phase of the Long Island PGA Championship. Bill Van Orman, an assistant at the Meadow Brook Club, was exempt from qualifying as the defending champion.

Former LPGA player second in Assistants Tourney

 

          Liz Janangelo, a former All America at Duke and recent LPGA player, finished one shot behind winner John Bushka in a Met PGA Assistants Tour event Monday at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton, Connecticut. Janangelo is an assistant at Rockrimmon CC and looks likely to be a force against men assistants on the local circuit.

Smithtown Landing's Hebron wins Met PGA award

Michael Hebron referred to the Metropolitan PGA as “the finest golf university in America.” If that is the case, then Hebron must be considered a distinguished professor in residence.

    Mark Brown, the head pro at Tam O'Shanter, made two birdies on the final three holes to win the Met PGA Championship. He finished at 6-under par for 54 holes at Piping Rock Club. Brown finished at 6 under, two ahead of second-round leader Danny Balin.
