Tiger Woods started out great, with two birdies in his first three holes. But a par on the par-5 second was like a bogey for him. And then problems started. He pulled his tee shot into the bunker on 4, blasted out and missed his 10-foot par putt. He hit a poor shot on 6 then three-putted.

         Of course there was an indication that keeping an even keel is going to be an odd chore for him at times. He gave himself a going-over and topped it off with a profanity that was caught on CBS' microphone. Nick Faldo said, "It's going to be a test and he is going to fail at times. People are going to be critical of every move he makes now."

          I'm not so sure about that. People here have been anything but critical so far. Anyway, he's only a few days into the "serenity now" phase and will have a ways to go.
