APRIL 23, 2014: MICHAEL PINEDA EJECTED IN 'PINE TAR GATE' PART 2
You know what they say, fool me once. . . . It all started when Michael Pineda appeared to have an illegal substance on his hand during his first outing of the year against the Red Sox. Because the Sox didn't complain and the umpires didn't seem to notice, Pineda got off scot-free as he led the Yanks to a 4-1 win. But in his second start against the Sox, Boston manager John Farrell went out to talk to home plate umpire Gerry Davis in the second inning. Davis inspected Pineda, discovered an illegal substance on his neck and tossed him from the game.(Credit: AP / Elise Amendola)
