2013 All-Long Island badminton team

Meet the boys and girls selected for Newsday's 2013 All-Long Island badminton team.

PRITAK PATEL
Long Island Player of the Year, Jericho, Senior
Went 14-0 for the second straight year, winning his second consecutive Nassau second-singles championship. Patel began his career as a doubles player, going 14-0 at fourth doubles as a freshman and 12-2 at first doubles as a sophomore. Patel has won a county championship each year he has been on the team. He finishes his career with a 54-2 overall record and helped lead Jericho to four straight county championships. |

JAMES HUBBS Smithtown West, Senior Hubbs went 14-0

Smithtown West, Senior
Hubbs went 14-0 in the regular season and 17-1 overall on his way to his first career Suffolk singles championship. A three-year varsity player, Hubbs has a career record of 30-3. |

ANSON CHEUNG Cheung went 13-1 at first singles

JAMES KUO Half Hollow Hills, Senior Went 15-3

Half Hollow Hills, Senior
Went 15-3 overall at first singles and helped lead Hills to its first championship since 2009. A three-year varsity player, Kuo was a team captain this year has a career record of 22-9.

Manchio made a strong push in the county tournament to finish as the county runner-up with an overall record of 10-5. |

Went 10-1 in the regular season and 14-1 overall to win their first Suffolk doubles championship after finishing as runner-ups last year. Both four-year varsity players, Brant and Bresalier have been a doubles team for their entire careers and finish with a record of 41-6. |

In their first year as a team, Fuchs and Barry went 14-0 at first doubles and won the Nassau first doubles championship. This is Barry's first year competing at first doubles. For Fuchs, it's his second straight county doubles championship. |

GINA CILIBERTI Long Island Player of the Year, St. John the Baptist, Senior
Ciliberti went 12-0 at first singles for the third straight year and helped lead St. John the Baptist to an undefeated season and its first league championship since 2008. She was also named CHSAA Player of the Year for the third year in a row. Ciliberti began her career as a doubles player and, including her record in the league tournaments, ends her career with an overall record of 58-0 and two individual league championships. In her 36 matches at first singles, she has played a total of 73 games and lost only one. |

ELIZABETH KALLENBERG Port Washington, Junior Kallenberg went 19-1

Port Washington, Junior
Kallenberg went 19-1 overall at first singles and won her second straight Nassau singles championship. She also helped lead Port Washington to a 14-1 record and its second straight county championship. Over the past two seasons, Kallenberg has a record of 37-1. |

JULIE CATONE Lindenhurst, Senior Catone went 19-0 overall

Lindenhurst, Senior
Catone went 19-0 overall and won her second straight Suffolk singles championship. A four-year varsity player, Catone played first singles for the past three years with a record of 47-7 and finishes her career with an overall record of 54-12. |

After winning the league third singles title last season, Kechejian moved up to first singles this year where she posted an 8-2 record and won the CHSAA first singles championship. |

Waldvogel went 16-2 overall and finished as the county runner-up. A four-year varsity player, Waldvogel has played at first singles for three years and helped lead Smithtown West to a second-place finish in the county. |

Half Hollow Hills, Doubles
Augusta and Cordano went 20-0 overall to complete their second straight undefeated season and won their second straight county doubles championship. Augusta and Cordano were an integral part to Half Hollow Hills' title run, as the Thundercolts won their fourth straight county championship and are on a 61-match win streak. With Augusta graduating, the duo finished with a 39-0 record as a team. |
