Thomas racks it up for Calhoun

Worthy of note: Calhoun captain Jake Thomas broke a school record with a jaw-dropping three home runs in one game in the team's 8-1 win over Valley Stream Central Monday. The left-hand hitting Thomas hit three solo shots at Fireman's Field: one in the third, fifth and seventh innings.

Calhoun stuns MacArthur


It appeared Game 3 was just about a lock. MacArthur dropped Game 1, but led 7-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning and had lefthander Josh Barry and his 0.89 ERA on the mound.

But Calhoun rallied with an eight-run inning to win the Nassau Class AA championship. No. 2 Calhoun swept the best-of-three series and won the championship for the first time since 2002.
