Josh Ockimey scored the winning run from third base on James Peralta's ninth inning sacrifice fly as Uniondale (8-2) earned 4-3 win over Herricks in non-league baseball. Ockimey previously sent the game to extra innings by doubling in Freddy Ventura to tie the score at 3, and pitched 81/3 innings with 10 strikeouts. Freshman Justin Cunningham made three slick putouts at third base in his first varsity start.
Freeport 8, Herricks 7: Yalitza Rodriguez hit a walk off RBI triple, driving in Tyler Smith, to win it for Freeport (4-4) in League IV. Smith went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and two singles. Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with the triple and three singles.
Seaford 4, New Hyde Park 3: Alex DiCapua hit a double and reached home on an error to score the winning run in the top of the eighth for Seaford (4-5) in Conference ABC-II. Erin Russell went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Sophie Dandola went 2-for-4 with a double. Ashley Casazza struck out five.
North Shore 7, Cold Spring Harbor 3: Kathleen O'Brien hit a two-out, three-run double in the top of the seventh to break a tie at 3 for North Shore (2-4) in Conference ABC-III.
Glen Cove 7, Sewanhaka 3: Sara Tenke went 3-for-4 with a triple and had 11 strikeouts in a complete game to lead Glen Cove (7-1).
Island Trees 5, Floral Park 3: Ashley Melendez went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs to lead Island Trees (7-0) in Conference ABC-I. Melendez laced an RBI single, scoring Kelly Cembrale, to give Island Trees a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning. Alannah Basile had eight strikeouts in a complete game and went 3-for-3.
Plainedge 13, Oyster Bay 0: Nicole Francisco pitched a five-inning, no-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks for Plainedge (4-1).
St. Anthony's 2, Fontbonne 1: Amber Mahoney led off the bottom of the seventh with a bunt single, advanced an another bunt and later scored the winning run one a groundout for St. Anthony's (8-0) in non-league. Aileen Reilly gave up three hits and an unearned run with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Syosset 12, Holy Trinity 0: Danielle Zurek threw a five-inning, one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks for Syosset (6-3). She allowed a hit in the first inning. Jessica Hom went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBIs and a walk and Danielle Mascia went 2-for-3 with a walk, and RBI and three runs.
