Long Island Player of the Year
The slick fielding four-year starter took away as many runs as he scored. His agility, anticipation and instinctive play at shortstop earned him the respect of teammates and opponents. His overall game earned him the 47th Yastrzemski Award give to Suffolk’s top player. He batted .423 with 25 runs, and 13 extra base hits, including four homers. “He raised the overall expectations of our team and we had such confidence with him out there,” coach Ed Boll said. “He’s the complete package.” He accepted a baseball scholarship to attend St. John’s University.(Credit: James Escher)
