Tonimarie Valeriano struck out 17 in a four-hitter as Mepham topped Carey, 2-0, in Nassau Conference AA-II softball Wednesday.

The junior pitcher came within one strikeout of matching her career high of 18.

Christine Rizzacasa went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Rizzacasa's homer in the third inning gave Mepham a 1-0 lead.

Long Beach 1, Massapequa 0: Heather Weinstein's one-out double in the bottom of the fifth drove in Kelsey Larson to lift Long Beach in Conference AA-I. Ashley Martin tossed a two-hitter with three walks and 14 strikeouts.Syosset 7, Farmingdale 6: Liz Jacobsohn scored courtesy runner Laura Weintraub with a single in the top of the seventh to give Syosset a win in Conference AA-II.

Smithtown East 6, Centereach 5: Nicole Crawford's pinch-hit double in the bottom of the ninth scored Christina Hussey to win it for Smithtown East in Suffolk League III. Mackenzie Buckley's sacrifice fly drove in Danielle Gonzalez in the bottom of the eighth to tie the score at 5. Stefanie Aplin went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored in the win.

Riverhead 14, East Islip 13: Karla Vanston scored Amanda Graziano with a single in the bottom of the eighth to win it for Riverhead in League IV. Graziano had a home run, two walks and four runs and pitched the final three innings in relief for the win.

Pierson/Bridgehampton 7, Port Jefferson 0: Sam Duchemin struck out six and walked three in a one-hitter for Pierson/Bridgehampton in League VIII. Emma Romeo went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored and Kasey Gilbride went 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

Clarke 13, Oceanside 12: Kirstin Cox singled home Danielle Ragusa with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning to win it in non-league for Clarke, which overcame a six-run deficit in the seventh. Sarah Cornell and Nicole Randazzo each had a two-run single, while Angelica Garguilo added an RBI-single in the seventh. Cox and Randazzo both finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and Ragusa went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.St. Dominic 5, LI Lutheran 3: Freshmen Sophie Mattheos and Olivia Volberg each went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead St. Dominic in non-league. Amanda Finn struck out 10 and gave up one earned run in a complete game for the win.


West Islip 13, Half Hollow Hills East 6: David Anholzer's two-run double highlighted a five-run fifth for West Islip, which overcame a 5-0 deficit in Suffolk League III. Anholzer's finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs and Dan Daley went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.

Sachem North 5, Connetquot 4: Kevin Kowalski struck out five and gave up six hits and Luke Leonardi had two hits and two RBIs for Sachem North in League II.

Smithtown West 5, Whitman 4: Peter Torres went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning, scoring Steven McDermott, to give Smithtown West the win in League III. McDermont finished 2-for-4 with three runs. Anthony Treccariche pitched three innings of scoreless relief to earn his first varsity win.

Half Hollow Hills West 9, Newfield 8: Sal Lovaglio scored on a fielder's choice by Jon Faraci to win it for Hills West in League IV. Jonah Glickstein went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win.

Deer Park 5, Bellport 4:Richie Fiorentino's bases-loaded single in the top of the sixth gave Deer Park the win in League V. Ryan Mallon struck out four and gave up four hits in a complete game.

Eastport-South Manor 6, Westhampton 3: Mat Annunziata went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs to lead Eastport-South Manor in League VI.

Sayville 8, Harborfields 7: Tim Peyton scored Patrick Jackson with a single in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Sayville in League VI. Patrick Waters went 2-for-4 with a homer and three runs and Erik McNamara went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run.Freeport 10, Baldwin 6: Endy Villalona went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, struck out five and gave up for hits in a complete game for Freeport (1-2) Nassau Conference AA-1.

Chaminade 4, St. John the Baptist 3: Rob Vani drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Chris Agresti to win it in CHSAA. Vani had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored. Dan Caniano struck out seven, walked three and left with a no-decision.
