LI's Klein, Carfora earn All-American honors
Carle Place forward Dylan Klein and St. Anthony’s midfielder Justin Carfora were named All-Americans on Monday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They were the only two players from Long Island selected.
Carfora’s overall play helped St. Anthony’s win a CHSAA state championship, the boys soccer program’s first since 2008.
“At this point in his playing career, he is as good as anyone we’ve had play for us,” said assistant coach Don Corrao.
Klein led Nassau with 30 points. He scored three goals and had three assists during the state Class B tournament and propelled Carle Place to its first boys soccer state title.
"He's the best player I've coached," said Carle Place coach Allen Foraker, who has led the program for 11 years. "He's the complete player. He's got the speed, the touch and the soccer awareness that many kids don't have."
Carfora said he will play soccer at Holy Cross next season and Klein said he will play at Hofstra.
