Three singles players and two doubles pairs from Long Island won their first two matches at the Girls Tennis State Championships in Latham on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals.

In singles, Nassau champion Taylor Cosme of Herricks and Suffolk champion Aimee Manfredo of Shoreham-Wading River will face each other in the quarterfinal on Sunday after both players cruised in their early-round matches Saturday without dropping a set. Ester Chikvashvili of Half Hollow Hills East was the third singles player from Long Island to advance to the quarterfinals after beating Manhasset's Nicole Koskovolis in three sets in the first round and a straight-set win in the second round.

In Doubles, Nassau champions Ally Linder and Liz Kallenberg of Port Washington and runners-up Katie Cirella and Rhea Malholtra of Syosset both advanced to the quarterfinal without dropping a set. Suffolk champions Alli Huber and Vanessa Scott of Hills East were eliminated in three sets in the second round.

The quarterfinal round will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday and will be immediately followed by the semifinals. The medal rounds will begin Monday at 9 a.m.
