Live blog: Brentwood boys soccer
After winning five games in six days, Brentwood is well rested. At least for the Indians based on what has occured recently. The Indians had Thursday and Friday off and will play Webster Schroeder in the state Class AA semifinals. Webster Schroeder lost in the state finals last season to Hicksville.
Brentwood is 21-0 and ranked No. 2 in the country in the NSCAA rankings. Ever Torres, who enterted the Long Island championship with a bad hamstring and groin, left the LICs with an ankle injury. He is warming up and coach Ron Eden told me he is a game-time decision. Brentwood has allowed six goals this season and outscored opponents 72-6.
We are about 15 minutes away from the start. Be back.
Torres is playing for Brentwood and starting.
Brentwood's Carlos Escobar limps off the field just 2:42 into the game. He has returned to the game. No score nine minutes in.
Torres doesn't look like himself. Several times he had a chance to get around a defender and he usually does it with ease and can't. He's definitely fighting through injuries. Daniel Aguilar has done a good job preventing clearing attempts by Webster Schroeder.
Still scoreless 16 minutes in.
Johnathan Interianio has left the game and is being looked at on the sideline with 15 minutes left in the first half.
Wow! What a phenomenal goal for Brentwood. Eric Molina dribbled down the left sideline and got into the box and sent a cross to Kevin Diaz, who scored on a header with 26:57 left in second half to give Brentwood a 1-0 lead.
Eric Molina had a good look at the goal but shoots it right into goalkeeper Andy Siviy.
Interiano did not return in the half.
BRENTWOOD 0, WEBSTER SCHROEDER 0
Interiano is back on the field to start the second half for Brentwood.
Kevin Diaz gets a good shot on the net for Brentwood and Siviy makes the save in the 45th minute.
Brentwood goalkeeper Raul Bonilla makes a save on a good look at the goal by Webster Schroeder with 14:17 left in the game. Brentwood leads, 1-0.
The lead is 2-0. Ever Torres scored with 12:22 left to extend the Indians lead.
Interiano scored with 7:31 left for a 3-0 lead. By the way, on Gregg Sarra's show "Airing it Out" on MSG Varsity, I guaranteed Interiano would score this weekend.
Brentwood wins, 3-0.
