North Shore girls track hard to beat in Nassau 'B'
North Shore is the class of Nassau 'B', and the Vikings aren’t about to let the title streak end without a fight.
The winners of the last four county titles return a bevy of distance runners who helped them win the Nassau cross county title in the fall. Alexandra Osman takes over at the top of that group after Elizabeth Caldwell took her fast legs to college. Osman finished second to Caldwell in the 3,000 at the Nassau 'B' championships last winter, finishing in 10:33.25. Osman was third in the 1,500 at the same meet, clocking a 5:03.58.
Stacie Nadel will also look to score distance points. She ran the 1,500 in 5:22.97 at the Conference V championship last season. Nadel ran the Bethpage State Park 5K in 20:02.8 in the fall.
Raquel Fossett will anchor the middle distance unit for North Shore. Fossett finished fourth in the 600 in 1:46.14 at the Nassau B championships last season. She was third in the 600 in 1:46.56 at the Conference 5 championships.
Kira Martin pole vaults for the Vikings. Martin placed fourth at the county championships, clearing eight feet. Tara McGuillacuddy, a sophomore, returns after flying 32 feet, one quarter of an inch in the triple jump at last year’s county championships. McGuillacuddy went 14 feet, four inches in the long jump at last year’s conference championships. Junior Francesca Royal will round out North Shore’s field unit, scoring in both the triple and long jump.
