Swimming: West Islip’s Carter qualifies for states
West Islip diver Patrick Carter won the Suffolk Diving Invitational on Dec. 15 and, in doing so, earned himself a berth to the state championships.
The eighth-grader scored a 437 in the event, besting Sachem East superstar Anthony Stefanelli, who had finished eighth in the state tournament last season.
