Talented trio leads Manhasset swimming
Some teams have one standout player. Others have two. But rarely, a trio emerges amongst a varsity squad. For Manhasset's boys swimming team, sophomore Connor Beil and juniors Sean Earley and Jeff McNeary are on their coach's radar this season.
"They all continue to improve each year," coach Matt McGrane said.
McNeary finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.93 seconds in Manhasset's 92-79 win against Great Neck North on Wednesday,
"He's come a long way," McGrane said. "He has improved a great deal. He gets faster and stronger each year. He's very versatile."
Beil finished first in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:11.99, and Earley won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.29 seconds.
Despite losing players last year, McGrane remains hopeful.
"We lost a bunch of key seniors," he said "but we hope to be competitive this year."
Manhasset's next meet will be against one of the best in the conference, Long Beach, on Tuesday.
