Amy joined Newsday's high school sports team in September 2013 after graduating from Stony Brook University in May 2013. She was the football beat writer for The Stony Brook Statesman for two years before graduating. As the beat writer, Amy traveled to several schools for coverage, including Syracuse, Army and Buffalo. For her senior project, Amy decided to step away from her sports comfort zone, and she covered PTSD in the military. Amy wrote for the Three Village Patch for three years, with topics ranging from the conflict in Egypt to obituaries to high school lacrosse games. She interned with Bleacher Report during the summer of 2012 and was given the opportunity to cover the Olympics, NHL, NBA, MLB and NFL. Amy is a Long Island native with a passion for sports, and while she admires them all, professional hockey and college football are her favorites.
