Hernandez had been cruising undefeated through his junior season last year before stepping into the gym at MacArthur. The 12th annual Eastern States Classic is in the book after two days at Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, N.Y. Top competitors from all over the country came to wrestle, and as usual Long Island had an extremely strong showing.

Though Sachem East walked away victorious yesterday at the Long Island Challenge there were wrestlers from the other teams that had very successful days.
Chief among them was MacArthur’s Steven Schneider. A senior, Schneider is the defending Nassau County champion at 160 pounds and finished second in New York State last season.
