Terry Harris scored his 1,000 career point on a free throw with 7:18 left in the fourth quarter of No. 7 Half Hollow Hills West's 60-52 Class AA first-round victory over No. 10 Newfield on Friday night.
Harris, who has played on varsity since his sophomore year, finished with a game-high 22 points.

In the closest League IV Championship meet in over a decade, Kings Park emerged victorious, winning the title over Westhampton Beach, 101-96. The two teams split the 4x400 meter and 4x200 meter relays. Kings Park’s squad, composed of Kerianne Meehan, Sophie Gonzalez, Laura Zopf and Lauren Cody won the 4x200 in 1:57.74. North Babylon dominated League III on Sunday at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood, scoring 142 points and winning the league by 66 points. It was the Bulldogs fourth league title in six years, according to the Suffolk coaches official meet recap.

It was a wild league championship Sunday in Suffolk girls indoor track, with numerous teams revving up for a run at a county championship this weekend. St. Anthony's took first, second, and fifth in the 25-pound weight throw at the Southern Tier Invitational at Cornell University.
Joe Segreto won with a personal best throw of 63 feet, 10 inches, tops in New York and ninth nationally, throw coach John McCree said. James Leddy finished second, throwing 60 feet, one inch and Andrew Piracha was fifth with a 46 foot, three inch toss.
