Alec Ludwig scores 1,000th career point for Great Neck North

Alec Ludwig scored his 1,000th career point Thursday night during the first quarter of Great Neck North's 59-51 win over Plainedge.

Hausmann's three-point play gives Dalers their first league win

Farmingdale needed a big play and Amanda Hausmann delivered one in the clutch.

Hausmann’s three-point play with 22 seconds left was the big basket in the Dalers’ 38-35 home win over Hempstead in a Nassau Conference AA-I girls basketball game.

Hausmann had good positioning in the low post when she took the feed from Lauren Hill, before converting the tough layup as she was being fouled.

McDonald's All-American basketball game nominees

The list of basketball players nominated to play in the annual McDonald's All-American games was announced on Tuesday. Of the 984 nominees, 12 hail from Long Island.

The final rosters of 24 boys and 24 girls will be announced during a selection show on ESPNU at 6 p.m. on January 29.

The games will be held on April 2 at the United Center in Chicago and televised live on ESPNU.

The entire Thursday slate of high school sporting events has been cancelled for public schools in Suffolk and Nassau and CHSAA schools throughout Long Island due to inclement weather, according to the governing bodies for each section.
