Battle of the Fehrenbachs: Father vs. daughter

Dinner at the Fehrenbach house may have been a little awkward on Thursday night.

Earlier that day, father and daughter became three-hitter and the opposing manager trying to get her out. Daddy’s little girl came out victorious as Kayla Fehrenbach helped lead the Bethpage softball team to a 9-4 win over MacArthur, which is coached by her father Bobby Fehrenbach.

Noel Lent is as versatile a player as there is on the Longwood softball team for coach Jackie Legnon. Not only does Lent hit for a high average as the starting shortstop, batting .462, with an on-base percentage of .483, a slugging percentage of .827 and an on-base plus slugging percentage of 1.310, but the senior also gets it done in the circle.

North Babylon wins back-to-back league titles for first time

North Babylon clinched the League IV title for the second consecutvie season with its 5-2 win over Brentwood on Wednesday, earning back-to-back league championships in boys tennis for the first time in school history.

Zane Sidiqui, Lynus Fortaleza and Tyree Grimsley won the top three singles slots, respectively, as Fortaleza and Grimsley remained undefeated in league play for the second year...

Francesca Casalino, Half Hollow Hills West – Suffolk Player of the Week:  The returning second-team All-Long Island pitcher (pictured) went 5-for-5 with three RBIs, while striking out  15 in a three-hitter during the Colts’ 11-1 win over Newfield. She then tied a career-high with 17 strikeouts, while allowing one run in a two-hitter in a 9-1 win over North Babylon.
