Dale Cosgrave has established herself as a key contributor on Bay Shore girls lacrosse.
The senior attacker's on-field accomplishments this season—17 goals and 16 assists—look even more impressive when considering Cosgrave has Type 1 diabetes.
While Cosgrave does not use the condition as an excuse, she does say it makes playing more difficult.
“You have the game on your mind,”...Read more »

Shhhh… Be very, very quiet. Sayville is hunting a championship.
The Golden Flashes haven’t been flashy and have flown under the radar somewhat, but they quietly have had an excellent season to this point. And that’s exactly how they want it.
“One team, one goal, one family,” senior Olivia Russell said, explaining the inscription on the back of the team’s warmup shirts. “It means that...Read more »

The high school season may be over, but Long Island’s top fencers are “en garde” throughout the year, competing in a number of regional and national tournaments.
While recent tournaments have taken many of these athletes as far as Texas, Virginia, and Oregon, this weekend’s event was much closer to home.
Fencers from around the country (and three from overseas) came to Rocky Point to...Read more »
