Oyster Bay fencing eyes return to the top in Nassau

With a deep and experienced team, Oyster Bay will be looking to make its fourth straight county final and win its third county title since 2011.

Along with Great Neck South, the Baymen have dominated boys fencing in Nassau County, with the two teams meeting in the last three county finals. Oyster Bay won in 2011 and 2012, while Great Neck South prevailed in 2013.

Oyster Bay and Great Neck South are no strangers to one another.

The two teams have met in the last three Nassau County boys fencing championships, with each match coming down to the final bout.

While Thursday’s match was not as close, it was still a competitive one, as Oyster Bay won 15-12.

Nassau boys soccer postseason opening matchups

Four outbracket games kicked off the 2013 Nassau boys' soccer postseason Thursday, featuring Class A wins by Sewanhaka, Lynbrook, Floral Park and Clarke.

All opening round Class A games take place on Oct. 25, as top-seeded Wantagh hosts No. 16 Clarke at 2:30 p.m.

Bethpage, the fifth seed, will host No. 12 Island Trees at 3:30 p.m. Sewanhaka, at No. 13, heads to No. 4 Southside at 7 p.m....
